This year's Junior Mace Matheson Debate will take place in Queen's University on the 14th of January 2017 students will need to get practising!
Also on the 4th of February 2017 we hope to participate in the DUWGA public speaking competition for girls under 15.The team will consist of three girls. There are 6 Topics for them to prepare and for 2017 these are: Leisure, Careers & Employment, Travel, Environment, Family & Relationships, Technology & Modern Living. Each girl should choose 2 Topics to prepare and on the day of the competition, they will be given one (previously unseen) aspect on each of their chosen topics. They will then decide which one they prefer to talk about. The best way to prepare is to brainstorm on their chosen topic: e.g. if the Topic was Health, an aspect could be 'Your health is your wealth". No competitor gets to see the Aspects of the Topics before the competition. They have half an hour to prepare their speech which should last at least 2 minutes and not more than 3 minutes.
